fast and stock ford ranger do not go hand in hand. Why are you so concerned about how fast the truck is?? No truck is 'fast'

In 2001 you could get a regular cab 4.0L SOHC with a 5 speed in it. They are very hard to find though.

And I would agree with you. That is why 'fast' is in quotations. I agree that quick is a better word. But there are exceptions as there are with everything.

'fastest' stock ford ranger? I'd vote the 02-03 Thunderbolt stage3 with the 4.0....had exhaust and intake from the factory....AND it was factory lowered w/ a lower front facia. I call it factory because you can order it from your local dealer.

Beyond that.....4.0L regcab 2wd would own.

pushrods and 1 cam.....vs......1 cam in each head pushing the valves.

MY truck is the fastest ranger now...after these 4.88's i just installed. I'm going to borrow maries stock wheels and tires and go street racin'!

4.88's and 28's FTW!

I had absolutely no knowledge about rangers when I bought mine. Id rather have a 97 4wd than my 03 4wd.

i'd say the 4.0l sohc manual with the factory 4.10
i've got the 4.0l sohc 5 speed auto with the factory 4.10's and its decently quick i mean for a truck, it will smoke the tires from a stop. But really whats the point in having a fast ranger? Bc your still not gonna even come close to a decent sports car
