which wheel paint

I am going to paint my wheels this weekend a gloss black. Sounds easy enough, you sand them with 120 grit sandpaper, then spray with wheel paint, then clear coat. Or do you need a primer? or a special wheel primer?
well wither way, I was going to sand, paint, clear without a primer unless you say you use one.
Someone said to use this:
http://www.jegs.com/p/PJ1/749309/10002/-1
its VHT wheel paint, but its 13$ a can!!! WTF??? would 1 can be enough for all four wheels?
Should I use a different kind like the duplicolor wheel paint? And does it have to be a special wheel clear coat also?

and where can I find the vht paint locally? like auto zone? home depot? I know they have duplicolor at autozone but they do not have gloss black, only "satin" black

Clean with a degreaser, scuff (not sand where you're scratching the rim up),2 coats high build primer, 2 to 3 coats of colour, 2 coats of clear.

Duplicolor makes good paint and its readily available at most stores. I painted the Cadillac Escalade rims on my B2200.

I have read that the paint will stick fine though as long as I scuff up the wheel, and primer is only needed if I sand down to bear metal or if the rims are in really crappy condition and have rust, I just hate to spend another $40 on primer if I don;t need it

VHT is owned by duplicolor cant imagine its much different. alot of people use duplicolor engine enamel as an alternative. i used duplicolor wheel paint when i painted my wheels. i washed mine with simplegreen/water and a sos pad, sanded with 320, sprayed with hose, then cleaned with acetone, then painted. i used 3 cans and no clear coat. i have since sold the truck to a friend and the wheels still look good. its all in prep. if it takes u longer to paint then prep your doing it wrong as a rule

Took about 6 hours for all the prep and paint, so basically took an entire day to do it.

I only had those wheels on the truck for about 6 months. Got a couple stone chips, but nothing major.

I sold them about a year ago to my buddy and they've just been collecting dust in the garage while he still builds his truck.
