Thanks guys. The FX4 (or possibly the FX4 Level-II) is what I was referring to. It's a bit fustrating, since I'd like like to pick up a new FX4 and can't even find one on a lot, let alone having a choice from several on the lot. I guess next week, I'll start calling around to the dealers to see if they have any plans of getting any. I hate going that route, because they want you to commit-to-purchase before they'll try to find one.

I was able to find a local dealer with an '07 Ranger FX4 with all the options I wanted, however the color is questionable. It's the dark shadow grey with med dark flint interior. My current '01 XLT is gold, with the tan color interior. I'm fearful that the darker 07' will look to gloomy, in addition will show the "pine stripes" much more clearly than my current truck. Any thoughts or opinions?

That's an awesome lookin' truck Rick. I like it allot. My biggest concerns are not so much to the mud and dirt that can be washed away, but the pine stripes that I know I will get from Wharton. I have a tendancy to find roads that are a foot or so narrower than the width of the truck. I know it will get scratch, big time. I'm fearful that this color will show those scratches much more than a lighter colored truck.

I usually like Bright colors(Usually blue) but When they They Changed from Bright Island Blue to Sonic Blue (Not My Cup-o-soup) I had to change. I saw a Dark shadow Grey truck and thought it look Bad ****. SO I Ordered one. Now with the Dark Colors, IMO you can't have as much fun with it, becasue everything you do to it should be dark too. Anything Crhome or shiney just looks goofy, but they can look very neat.
Now I will never buy another New car without Ordering one ever. If you are going to spend 20K+ on a vehicle it better be exactly what you want. It costs you nothing to order it, and I have always gotten mine in a month or less.
Good Luck!

off road and level11
im ordering a 07 ranger fx supercab off road, hey guys im new here just signed in, my father just bought a 07 level11 ranger in redfire metaliic, now my ford dealer sat me down and gave me the differant options on both models, the level11 has bilstein shocks. stainless steel front tow hooks, blue 2tone front seats, torsen differential, 31x10.5r15 bfgoodrich ko tires the off road fx has i think nicer wheels then the level11 no blue seats but can get just about everything else that the level11 has for less money. might go with the dark shadow gray myself but not sure yet. im getting sliding rear glass $125.00, trailer tow class111, in dash 6disc mp3, satellite radio, cloth bucket seats, 4 door, 5-speed auto, he gave me the differant options on both and if i wanted the shocks and tow hooks it would be like $500 more. should be in by nov 07 the new rangers here in nj.

I will say that a darker color is going to show the pine striping very good. I have a white truck and have scratches galoore. From a distance you cant see them. When you get up close you can see lots. On the other hand my friend has a green truck and he vows never to go into wharton with it again because the last time he went it looked like it got keyed. Stick with the lighter colors I think white is the best for scratches.
Unless the scratch is through the paint it will show the least on a white truck. Think about it when paint gets scratched it shows up white on dark paint well when a white paint is scratched the scratch shows up white and therefore is hard to see.
When my truck is washed and waxed it looks great even though it has been through many a brush trails.
