Ford borrows 16 Billion$$$$$!!!

The beginning of the end is near for Ford (Chevy too). I just read somewhere that Ford borrowed 16 or 18 Billion dollars, I forgot the exact figure, either way it's bigger numbers then any of us you ever need to use.

So, what does this mean? Toyota is now the #2 seller with GM still #1 for who knows how much longer. Sad but true....our US automakers are in big trouble.

Can you imagine the interest on 16 Billion dollars. Holly $hit! Good luck Ford, you'll need it.

I dont want to burst your bubble here. but if GM is in the number 1 sales position, that means the end is nowhere near for Chevy, since GM owns them

Assuming a 3% interest rate, the interest alone is $510,000,000, AKA, 510 times the amount any of us will probibly make in our entire lives...

Gm has close to a dozen different brands on the U.S market, Toyota has 3 now. Yota, lexus, scion. Gm still has the highest sales because they have a more diverse product field. If you count each GM brand individually, they're nowhere near number one.

Ford wont go out of Business. Neither will GM. What youre seeing here is Ford and GM arent getting as big of a piece of pie as they used to.

Its kind of like this:

My boss owns a single self storage facility. Its a very nice facility, pretty state of the art. Before 6 months ago, we were the only one that was in our area that had the features we do. We were doing great! Now we have 2 newer competitors taking some business from us. We arent hurting, but we sure as heck arent drawing in money like we did before 6 months ago.

Ford and GM just having to share now and since they arent used to it, it just looks like they are suffering. Really, all in all, this means good things for the consumer.

I doubt Ford will go anywhere anytime soon, the Federal Government would bail them out first to save the jobs.
Part of the problem is that too many people are brain washed that the imports are better in some way. Myself I just don't see it. I worked for Ford dealers for over 15 years and spent time with both Ford and GM as well, and several dealers that I was at also had import franchises. We hated the imports, they were hard to work on, parts were expensive, and they didn't take the punishment that the American vehicles did.
I have owned mostly nothing but Ford vehicles, with a few Mopar and GM vehicles here and there (with the exeption of two Toyotas a few older air cooled VWs and a Mercedes). All of my Mopar's were older, except for a few later vans that came to me in a package deal, (they came with a buyout and it's been cheaper to keep rebuilding them than to buy new). When it comes to trucks, Ford is the only game in town when it comes to quality. While all vehicles have their problems, Ford just seems to be the most trouble free.

Benefits. Something like $3,000 PER GM CAR SOLD goes to employee benefits. A $16,000 Japan car, giving everything else equal, would have to be sold for $19,000 by GM.

Unemployment is lower than it was pre 9/11. Just becasue the media reports it as bad doesn't mean it's true. Get the figures yourself. When the Dow broke the Recaor this fall you heard little to no Coverage, but when it broke 10K over the .com boom in the mid 90's it was plastered all over the news! " look what this Democrat president did for the economy!" Now if the media was truly unbiased, the Headlines would be plastered with headlines saying how Bush turned the economy around, But alas nothing. And people who skim the news paper think the economy and unemployment is in the toilet.

preach it brother! that is the truth.....when a Republican President does something good, it isn't worth media coverage.....but when a Democrat President does something good we hear about it for months....

the economy is BOOMING! unemployment is at about 4%...that is the lowest it has been since they started recording it.......

again i will say what is hurting the American auto industry is the unions (i am by no means against unions, but they had their day and time when they were good).........shoot......getting paid $30 an hour to put on emblems is rediculs....
