Just got back from a mini-vacation, w/MPG figures
Hi Yall,
I came back to find 12 pages of active topics since Thursday afternoon! Anyways, I drove to Kansas and back to visit a friend. On my first tank of gas, I managed 364 miles with the 16.1 gallon tank, averaging 22.6MPG, but also considering the tank was not empty when I refilled it, nor did I have any sort of low fuel warning. I think I could have managed 23 MPG, but that would be on fumes.
On the way back I hauled, but still managed 311 miles and I have a quarter of a tank left. Not back for the 3.slow and a truck with a big heavy cap on the back.

Well, I generally try to cruise around 70-75 MPH. I run the EATC at 74-75 degrees F and put the cruise control on while listening to tunes. I would like a tonneau cover as opposed to the huge cap, but the cap does allow for more cargo space.
When I had my 99 XLT it had a 20 gallon tank I think. I was able to squeeze around 430 miles average out of that truck.

Well, I have a 2WD and the 3.Slow. Both contribute to increased MPG. The fact that I also have the crappy stock tires helps some as well as my driving style, which is get to the speed I wish to cruise at, trim it up, and then leave things alone.
