ford ranger hauling question
i have a 2003 ford ranger 4x4 5 speed i have hauled close to a ton before in the bed of sandand it was ok for the mile or so i had to drive it well now i am going to need close to 4 tons of gravel at a guys house and its almost 20 mile drive there and we can not access the part of the property with a dump truck so it looks like i will be hauling it with my truck was going to haul it in the bed with alot of trips but he has a old 4x8 trailor and was wondering how to find out how much it can carry if anyone knew of someway i could figure it out plz help

small 4x8 utility trailers normally cant haul more than 1500-1800 pounds, could even be less than that. i wouldnt suggest trying to haul 8,000 pounds of gravel with it, especially behind a ranger. i would suggest renting a twin axle dump utility trailer like this one...
it will safely hold alot more that that 4x8 trailer and will probably be equipped with trailer brakes. you could then split the load up into two or better yet three trips.

if you have a trailer with GREAT load displacement. than i doubt you'll have problems, as long as its an even load and your only doing 1500lbs or so at a time then you should be fine.
Thats a 22ft boat with a 350 chevy outboard motor. my truck only dropped about 2 inches with that on the hitch. the better the weight distribution, the better the tow.
