I have to go to class, so this will be short...


I try to start thet truck, and i get power and everything, cause well, the dashlights come on, and i unlocked my truck with the keypad..

And all i get is click click click click, like rally fast...For some reason its not turning over, so im guessing something electrical, or fuel , maybe the fuel pump.

So i have a big *** cricket sitting in my driveway now..

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, be back after class..

sometimes my battery dies, but has enough juice to turn on some of my interior stuff, just not start the truck...

 

My Honda did that. It was the starter. I went for years with this problem. I'd try, it would click, I'd try, it would click, I'd try and it would start...then months without problems then back to the clicking...my guess is starter or solenoid...

 

Starter or starting soloind or PATS is dead or fuel pump is dead(turn truck to on position leave door open listen under truck for it to turn on) or bad battery or your turnminals are coroted and need to be cleaned . start from there.

 

Click-click-click-click-click is the starter solenoid clicking. It means one of two things...

1. You have enough juice for dash lights and door lock actuators but not to start the truck. This is very very common when it is not dead as a door nail yet.

2. Your wires going to the starter solenoid are full of crap and need to be cleaned.

Try jump starting it and I bet it will work.

it needs to be jumped other day workin on truck had the radio on and i go to start it to pull it off the ramps CLICK CLICK CLICK jumped it n it was fine

 

when my 92 made that noise it was the battery

 

That's the dead battery, my truck made that noise, then i just replaced the factory one with a Red Top.

 

and come to think of it, before i went out last night...

I noticed my lights behind the grill were on, and i turned them off.. Before i left, "Didnt leave in my truck" (drove "friends" SVT Focus"

Anyway, i hope thats all it is.. I would be a happy camper.. THanks, ill check on it...

 

I would put money that you just need a jump start. Nothing more.

 

I agree with Matt. Battery is the most likely culprit -- either discharged and/or defective.

 

I doubt it can be defective, its a freakin 03... If it is defective, im throwing it right though fords window...

Fuel shut off valve? Try seeing if that got activated somehow. My truck is an 02 and I still have my stock battery. And seeing how you are in TX I don't see how old man winter is taking life away from your battery too bad. My would try to turn over but wouldn't. I pushed the switch down. And tada!

Also, check all of your fuses. And when you turn the key just to the "ON" position do you here a buzzing noise for a second or two? If not, then your fuel pump may not be working.

 

It's not a fuel shut off SWITCH (no valve) or pump. That wouldn't have anything to do with these symptoms. The clicking is the selonoid and that's what it does when there is a low voltage condition and it can not hold. If there was a fuel delivery problem, it would turn over fine and just not start.

 

Thats right, thats what i was thinking in class...

If it were fuel related, it would prob crank at least...

Got it running, it was the battery, i just jumped myself, its fine, thanks everyone.

Most people in this thread were right, it was the battery, this morning was too early, and cold for me to even try anything, just jumped in the screw, and went to school.lol

 

oh mine did the same things ur did and it was the fuel shut off valve. Ford tried to kill me when it shut off goint 70mph on the interstate everything stopped working power steering and everything. good thing u found the cause.

 

Same here man. I wasn't on the highway but I was traveling at 45 MPH down a road and it just got activated. I was so pissed.
