@1996DangerRanger "^^ Damn... someone was going too fast when that happened...

Not that often you see the cab completely ripped off of a pick-em-up truck frame."

Yeah when i saw this i could not believe the cab came off, but if you look at the Ex-cabs 35mph wall crash test

You can kinda see the frame peeling off the cab. Add alot of speed and it could happen i guess.

Yeah, the ext. cab video shows it peeling off alright...

So, figure about 60-80 mph and you get what that guy got with his Ranger hitting that Oldsmobile that no one can recognize.

I'd personally rather be in something where the cab/car body peels off of the frame... Let the inertia move the cab where it needs to go, rather than letting you take the damage by being solidly in one place.while a unibody construction collapses around you.

I feel the same most say SUV's/Pickups are less safe then a car because they can rollover. Somewhat true, but the main difference between them is the Ride heights. Cars can easily become overridden like this

I have a 3in bodylift seeing that makes me want to install it sooner, the f250 is like undamaged but does weigh alot more then that focus did.

yeah but the focus absorbs a lot more impact, where the 250 just pretty much stops.

From what i can see the focus is hitting the trucks front bumper/frame/axel/tires and it stops the impact from reaching the driver/passenger of the f250, but the front end is still moving over the weak hood of the focus hitting its cab pillers and bending them before it stopped.
The focus if anything absorbs too much energy below and too little on top. You can see the firewall and dash being pushed in by the f250 front end since there was nothing to stop it. Also id say the impact was alot less intense for the 250 since its rear end did not fly up.

Focus Information***
HIC 1500**-1086**
Chest G's 85.8**-57.8**
Left Femur 4654-3874
Right Femur 4470-3813
** Value exceeds allowed limit.
***Driver's neck tension exceeded allowed limits.

F-250 Information
HIC 307-403
Chest G's 35-38
Left Femur 1277-1570
Right Femur 1565-44

thats dummy info f250s lower.

The 250's rear end did leave the ground.

What you have going on here is textbook frame crumbling, The Focus's front frame section is made to crunch like that, otherwise the engine block would be coming in to meet you in the front of the car. The 250 passes a ton of shock, look at the very first slow- motion. you can see the front of the truck bend forward, then as the force passes through it and it straitens out.

I really dont want to argue about the results but i will a little more XD. yes the frame is made to crunch like that but the top hood/motor is not. The weight ratio makes a huge difference in the amount of force delivered to the occupants. The f250 stiff frame massively collapsed the soft focus's, when Ford made the f250s i think the idea was the crumple zone is whatever it hits. Also when i said "rear end did not fly up." i was comparing to the f250s rears very slight bunny hop to the focus's rear doing an indo.

in my last post i also showed this,

Focus Information***
HIC 1500**-1086**
Chest G's 85.8**-57.8**
Left Femur 4654-3874
Right Femur 4470-3813

F-250 Information
HIC 307-403
Chest G's 35-38
Left Femur 1277-1570
Right Femur 1565-44

these are the crash test dummy readings the f250s is much lower meaning less force on the dummys, also look at the focus's ** and *** ratings meaning it exceeds allowed limit for injury.
main thing too focus :Chest G's 85.8**-57.8** VS f250:Chest G's 35-38, this means the f250 experienced less G force during this.

PS.. "you can see the front of the truck bend forward, then as the force passes through it and it straitens out." ya but the bed bends around more then the cab did since the energy passed to it like it should.

Well a focus vs an F250 is hardly a fair fight. The focus is a small econobox, and the F250 is a certified work truck with a real frame designed to tow, and haul weight. Also, the F250 is much taller than the little focus so of course its gonna run it over. This fact alone, makes the F250 a much safer vehicle than the focus.

However, the MPG of both also differ. the focus gets excellent mileage, the F250, eh not so much

Over the years, being on these forums I have seen alot of accidents with rangers, and I have yet to see anyone get killed *knock on wood*

Of all the accidents, everyone pretty much walked/wobbled away where as the other driver, generally had to be mechanically removed from their vehicle.

The ranger is, and always has been a pretty safe vehicle overall. you have 6+ feet of cushion behind you, and 4+ft in front of you. Being that it is a truck, with a real frame adds to its safety factor.

But that safety also comes with a price... Our MPG suck, for the most part. Sure some get more some get less, but average mpg for a ranger is on par with a fullsize. Only the Ranger is easier to park, and not as expensive to repair.

This just surfaced on the web. He is driving a 06+ Ranger, but definitely should NOT be. So incomprehensible...

Their worthless commentary... The little kid in the background... The passenger telling the driver what to do... The passenger pretending he would ram him off the road if he was driving... It's good he kept a tail on him, sure, but just seems he was more interested in being a hero. Otherwise he wouldn't have made the video.

Exactly. I agree. It wasn't needed. They should have stayed close to the center line and flashed on coming cars while keeping their distance.
