I don't come around here often anymore, if I need some info I can usually find it by searching, so there's no need to post. But today I have a need to post, and here's why...
Gahhh!! I'm pissed that's why! Some gr******* decided he could make a 90 degree corner at 35 mph in his POS honda civic. Slammed head on into the Nissan pickup that was in front of me and pushed him back 6 feet and hit my truck. His bumper hit mine, then went up over it and went right through my grille.
So skills got reckless, and I had to pay $110 to get my truck towed home 3 miles.
Its fixable, but its not pretty under the hood...
Pushed my AC condenser and radiator together and shoved them back against the cooling fan. Bent the upper radiator support back about an inch, and the upper radiator hose got crammed up against the alternator belt. The engine was still running after the hit though, so its not too terrible. But I'm pissed to say the least.
Just figured I'd get some sympathy from fellow Ranger drivers.

Thanks man. Its really messed up because Ive been in two accidents in the entire time I've been driving. Both of them have happened at the same intersection. Just on opposite sides. I'm staying away from that intersection from now on.
Sorry about your truck man, that's rough. Stupid ricer drivers. I swear they're involved in more accidents than any other set of vehicles put together. Except maybe for soccer moms on cell phones driving their tank of an SUV.
I know you don't want to hear it, but that will more than likely total your truck. Their insurance isn't going to want to pay the $2000 to have that fixed.

I'm with Maurice on this one, hope they do though.

really man that blows maybe you can get another truck, hopefully their insurance since that guy totaled your truck will help pay for another car.
I don't plan on letting them take it. To tell the truth Id take a lower offer than what it takes for a body shop to fix it to keep them from declaring it totaled. I don't feel like jumping through all the damn hoops it takes to get it street legal again once its fixed.
Trucks worth about a grand, Id be happy with that. It doesn't need to be perfect for a DD since I planned to restore it anyway. I can hammer out the dents in the hood and wrap a chain around a nice stout tree to pull the radiator support back out. Get a radiator and fan from a junkyard just to make it work the way it should and Ill be fine with it.
Here's some shots from the scene that I meant to post earlier...
The front wheel of the Nissan had been sitting about where the guy in the red shirt is standing.

I would have claimed neck injuries and got that damn civic for everything you could.. teach him a big lesson in street racing around a corner like that.

There was a post on this topic a couple of days ago in off-topic I believe. This is exactly what is wrong -- people complain about the high cost of insurance, but it is for this very reason. Then when a legitimate complaint is made, there is no compensation. Vehicles can be replaced no matter what the sentimental value, but you can't take true injuries lightly.
