Please help me fix this!

Last summer l had a tranny go out so l rebuilt it and slapped he back in and walla. Well it's back to haunt me, after a unsuccessful hunt this morning on my way home going about 20 mph in second gear all of a sudden the rear end lock's up completely on my. l start it up, put it in first and it just dies. So l start it up again and put it in neutral and to my surprise it will run in neutral about 40 mph. l have absolutely no clue and questions and answers are welcomed!

Not enough info.......auto or stick? If auto it sounds like a linkage problem. It appears that it went into reverse while traveling forward, then into drive while the sector indicated neutral. Check the adjustment of the linkage, and assure that it is tightened down once adjusted.

Has to be standard… as usual a tranny going bad again !

How do you know the rear end locked up, could be the trans locking up between gears.

Replace the tranny and chk the rear end while it is up in the air.
