truck ran fine all day...turned off to switch drivers and never restarted.cranks and cranks but no start. bypassed fuel cutoff switch after reset did nothing. switched fuel pump relay with washer relay...no start. wanted to check if voltage at pump but there is 4 pins and dont know which ones to check.
this truck only has 41,00 miles and it has been babied. has new plugs, wires, fuel filter and ran fine all day. this was sudden. checked all fuses...all ok. I get initial voltage at cut off switch but not humming from fuel pump.

whats next?

 

might be time to change out the fuel pump.

 

at 41,000 miles!! would like to jump out relay to make sure. If anyone knows how I could do this let me know.

 

on my 99 4.0 ohv when it did this, it was my crank sensor. Different engines but could be the problem. Very easy to replace to.

 

Is the theft light flashing when you crank it over?

 

no anti theft was not flashing...tried the other key too.
want to check voltage to wiring harness above fuel tank...4 prongs. been looking all night for wiring diagram but havent found yet. i guess 2 wires are for fuel gauge and two other ones are the power...just cant figure which is which.

 

ok have 12v at yel/wht blk combo was looking for 12v at pkk/blk combo. simple pump repace?? put 12v to pump dead.

 

ok problem resolved. it was the pump...yea w 41000 miles shame on you ford. noticed little black hose on top of tank that part of venting...rotting big time slimy black as soon as any fuel hit it. could this be the reason my pump failed??? slimy black gook can stop a pump in no time. replaced with fresh fuel line...all better. rock auto $99. pump and sock + Ship 3 day. Job is done thats priceless and thats to all who posted and responded.
