Help with Fuel System

alright i've had it with my truck. there is something electrical wise wrong with the fuel system. its an 86 with the 2.9 the only way the fuel pumps work is if the fuel pump test connector is grounded to the battery. but the pump runs constantly. when the key is in the on position the pump continues to run. it doesnt prime and then stop. in the past 3 months ive replaced the fuel pump on the frame 4 times and the fuel pump relay 4 times and the eec realy 2 times. what am i missing??? ive checked all the wires and everything seems ok. and does anyone know the right fuel pump relay?? ive got a 5 prong and a 4 prong ive tested both. the 5 prong runs fine. the 5th tab doesnt go anywhere so i tried 4 prong but nothing. any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds almost like you have a hole in or broken fuel line.....or maybe a loose fitting......if that was so though you would have at least a little gas drip somewhere, or be able to smell it

I think there must be a fuel pressure relay that is being bypassed by wiring the pump directly to the battery but i am not expert nor do i claim to be........maybe someone else might have a little more info for ya
