2002 3.0 V6 FF brake lines

The line that goes to my drivers side front rotted through. Down at the wheel, the brake line screws in to a thing mounted in the wheel well. That threaded thing, is it 3/8 24TPI? Or might it be another size? The reason I ask is, the part I got from autozone, it was really HARD to screw in, like maybe the threads didn't match. Ultimately, I stripped it, now I'm gonna start all over. But I want to make sure I have the correct brake line. Thanks everyone
