headlights
Hi all
I have a 2009 ranger and for a while now my headlights come on by themselves.
The longest i have seen them on for is 12 seconds.Usually its only a flash or two.It is the low beam that is coming on and it will even flash over the drl when i am sitting in park.Being winter here once again i am concerned with battery draw. They will flash when the truck is off and parked and do it several times i day that i see.Any ideas appreciated.

Ok i have no drl module as its a 2009,switch is fine and connection at bulb is ok.
I am installing Hid projectors and can not have the low beam coming on this way.
What i am thinking is use oem switch to run a relay for low beam/p lights not sure how to
integrate the pass/high beam control arm switch though.Any ideas from current owners of retrofit projectors is always appreciated. Brent

daytime running lights are mandatory in all vehicles sold in canada since 1996
there is a low voltage relay inside the DRL module that is failing

here is a better solution for you
purchase these 4 products from amazon
putco heavy duty wiring harness
cut off the crappy fuse-able links and the 2 red power wires to this HD waterproof circuit breaker
remove the plastic bulb connector pins and re-insert them into these high heat resistant ceramic bulb connectors ( removing and re-inserting the pins 1 at a time )
and switch over to these high power bulbs
resettable and waterproof circuit breakers are way better than fuses WHY
because they do not dilute the voltage transfer from the battery itself
( voltage transfer from the alternator when your engine is running )
and you can manually trip the circuit breaker itself - if the drl module keeps flashing the lights on and off by itself

i ordered these additional parts because i am going back to halogens , these HID bulbs are causing me grief
i am converting the putco harness relay connectors over to these 5 pin standard housings ( middle left picture
Weather Pack & Electrical - Electrical & Wiring Components - HiPo Parts Garage
and i found a VW business in toronto that sells genuine BOSCH relays
German Supply - Parts for VolkswagenŽ Cars - All-purpose Relay 12V 30A Genuine Bosch
