Hello Everybody, Still learning the forum. Thanks My 91 Ranger I am getting check engine light on the ranger. This is for a 1992 Ranger. Autozones does not go before 1995.Been searching on the net and here no luck but confused which diretion to take.Besides paying somebody is there alternative out there anywhere. Looking for direction?

 

I found all the fault codes and a lot of info. I found the connector under the dash to put the jumper on. It was supposed to be under the hood.All the info says to jump a and b. The diagram I found says 1 thru 6 Look at the picture at the link . I also did not see the single one called the trigger. You would think It would be with the 6 pin connector. Will recheck. Can somebody clarify? Thanks.

trigger is usually under the hood its smaller connection usually on the drivers side fender area.

if i still had one of my 3rd gens i could show ya exactly minor problem i sold it lol

 

Hey there is somebody there!! Thanks Can I test for codes using that connector by using a jumper? Or do I need the tester to hook to it. I found a diagram on the net that showed using jumpers but no luck!! Will a scematic help?

 

no idea I actually own a OBD1 code scanner so never had to do it with a test light

 

I found one for $25.00. Not bad but the cable cost $25.00 also. Does that sound about right?

 

On the obd1 vehicles you do not need to use a code reader. The connectors you need to jump are under the hood on the 92. They are on the passanger side right in front of the heater blower motor. it will say eec test and there will be two connectors that plug into the bottom of it. I will have to find my mustang repair manual to see what wire to jump on the larger connector. You wont need a test light once you connect it, and turn on the key switch it will flash the check engine light and give you the codes.

 

Thanks for the reply. I still have not read the codes yet but the truck is running okay. I see the connector marked EEC and the 2 holes in it. The one goes to the big connector and the other hole is at the top of a slot and there is a little piece of one of the terminals it looks like. I am not sure what wire that is? It sounds like you have done it before. Can you tell me which one to jump
to the larger one? Is it on the top row?

 

This site is for mustangs but it does show how to test it with out buying the scan tool. Checking your Ford Mustang computer codes It is that eec test plug you need to pull both connectors out of the bottom side of that cap. There is a plastic clip on each side. That cap just keeps the moisture and dirt out/
