just ordered a power locking kit for my tailgate

i get it in a few weeks, i was curious at how hard these are to hook up. i know there is a write up but i just wanted to kno if anyone hooked one up and if there was any advice you have. the guy at the store said not to use the splicers that come with the kit as then have been known to start fires. he said my choice was to sodder and heatshrink the connection.

any tips are appreciated. when it comes time to hook it up, i might do a "how to" even though there is one.

Pop n' Lock? I just ordered a manual locking one. I figure my tailgate doesn't need to be unlocked when I unlock the doors.

I don't know if this will work on the Rangers or not. With the F150s a locking tailgate comes standard. A few people have rigged up a simple lock actuator and a metal plate to move the lock rod when the doors are locked. I got mine on ebay for less than 5 dollars, I haven't gotten around to installing it yet though.

Maybe something for one of you guys with a manual lock to look into? Would save a little bit of cash
