1989 Ranger heat issue

I just bought a 1989 ranger regular cab with the 2.3 5 speed. The heat works but its very weak no matter what speed you set it at. also my temp gauge isnt reading at all, would that be a temp sensor or thermostat??? New to this forum and new to rangers so if anyone could help me out thatd be great.

I would say check your thermostat, but if you say it works, but changing the fan speed doesn't change it.. maybe the blower motor is bad?

Icon4 running issue now!!!

i think it might be temp sensor because its not reading at all. Yeah its the motor or the resister. My uncle told me to have the motor on high and give it kick and then it started to work so its probably on its way out. Also any one know why the truck will run great no problem but then it wants to act like its running out of fuel when its in gear and you accelerate. But if its in neutral or the clutch is pushed then you can rev the motor no problem no hesitation or anything. I replaced wires, plugs, fuel filter, throttle body gasket and cleaned the throttle body. Now i only can think it to be maybe a egr or fuel pump. Really need to find out thank you
