Icon7 smoke from steering column in my 2000 ranger

I'm new here so have not figured out site but here's my problem. Every once in a while, i have white smoke coming out of the top of the steering column thru the hazard button. Does anyone know whats going on with this issue? Thanks in advance!

Multifunction switch short. Easy fix. The part you need is the entire arm that operates your blinkers and wipers. It cost $50-$60.
