94 Ranger Warning Chime How Can I silence it for good?

I have a 94 Ranger XLT ext cab 4wd and I love the truck but Im going nuts because of the warning chime. I have replace every bulb on this truck and done everything I can think of but anyway everytime I turn the headlights on that annoying chime sounds and it will not stop no matter how long the lights are on. without taking the dash apart completely how can i shut that thing down for good? It only does it when the lights are on. I tried to search for it first but I could not find it so please someone if it has been discussed before give me the link. Thanks

If the warning chime goes off when the door is closed and the lights are on, there is a problem with the ignition switch or the sensing wire that runs from the ignition switch to the GEM notifying the GEM that the key is on...let me see what i can dig up on this....

The 94 Warning Chime Module should be behind the lower center of the I/P below the ashtray. It has a 7-wire plug. For a quick fix killing just the headlight chime, I would cut and insulate the solid brown wire. This doesn't address the root cause of the problem but it should quiet things down without doing any diagnostics.

Maybe Bob will know better than I, but if there is an open on circuit 158 (BK-PK) from the GEM to the ignition switch, the GEM will not have a key-in sense and this could cause the chime to activate, correct?

When the lights are on it chimes regardless of whether the door is open or closed and whether truck is running or not. I had to drive it 60 miles last night and it never went off. Like I said every lamp on the truck exterior is new now and I checked the headlamp sockets for corrosion and there was none so im gonna find that chime and cut the wire to it even if I have to take entire dash apart.I hate it that the car companies think people ars so stupid that they need a warning chime forthe lights and seatbelts which BTW iI do wear. what is I/P?

I don't think there is a GEM in 1994 and earlier Rangers.

When I bought the truck the ignition switch was broke and I had a locksmith replace it. I watched him hook up a plug to the switch so I would think that it wouldn't be thinking the lights are on and the truck was not running, right?

The EV/TM calls it out as a "warning chime module" but has the same wires going to it as the 96 EV/TM GEM does....ODD

According to the info I have, the 94 part is simply a warning chime module, nothing more.

From 95, the GEM/CTM has a lot more inputs and adds a bunch of control and timing functions like wiper/washer, autodown window, battery saver, etc. Some years also have the ESOF t-case controls and/or speedometer correction in the GEM.

i loved my "dangerranger" 93 cherry with a 2.3 untill the last year, now electrical problems that are unclear to diagnose, trans problems and worn out front end because of no way to lubricate it are really wearing on my ranger/ ford loyality.

the gas mileage sucks also--5 bucks a gallon in a couple of months
