96 XLT Fuel Gauge reading E all the time...
I'm sure this is some common problem I just don't know about yet. I bought the truck last September with 98k on it. I've put about 10k on it since then and I'm about fed up with keeping track of my miles. The gauge constantly reads E and the "Low Fuel" light (if there is one?) has never came on. Is it my fuel pump/sending unit, and wire, or something else? Thanks for the help guys!
EDIT: And I checked the connector under my driver seat and it looks great, no corrosion or anything. Also, when I put my key in and turn it to the position right before it starts to crank, the fuel gauge moves maybe....1/8" and then drops again...like maybe it's just loose in the cluster? IDK, Thanks for the help again!

Bad float or bad wiring.
Go to radio shack and pick up a 150 ohm resistor. Stuff it into a connector for the fuel tank harness with the yellow/white and ground (black) located under the drivers seat area.
This should give you a over full reading when you cycle the key on. If it does your looking at an issue with the float.
