wire up cruise pod lights in 2000?

Hey all I was wondering if its posible to wire up your cruise control pods in a truck that doesnt have the circuitry for the lighting in them. See mine is a 2000 and for some reason for decided to not install the lighting circuitry that year.

Whats weird is they also replaced the entire cruise control circuitry when I bought the truck(2005ish) due to a recall but they still didn't install the lighting :/

Has anyone figured out how to do it? and if so how difficult is it? I heard that in the trucks that have it the circuitry should run up the steering column through the clock spring. I wonder if there is an easier method.

I would love to install some leds in my pods like in this mod link:

Hence that's why I'm curious and wondering what my options are if its even worth it
