ABS - Possible Fix?

For a while now I have been battling my anti lock brake system, since 5/4 of 2015 to be exact. Around four months ago, I managed to get an OBDII to USB ELM327 and also a nice piece of software for my laptop called ForScan.

If you don't have either of these, strongly recommend you do get them. 12 bucks and you're pretty much set.

Anyway, I was helping a friend of mine last night with his 2003 ford ranger, equipped with the 2.3 duratec engine and a manual transmission. In an attempt to figure out why it wouldn't start, I ran on demand checks throughout the system, including the antilock brake system; but I noticed something during that test.
During that test, I heard the ABS pump working and chugging along, and of course it spit out no codes. On my 1999 ford ranger, I notice that the pump does NOT make any noise during my testing, nor does it report back any codes.

Granted, there's four model years difference there but I think that may be my problem. What do you guys think?

You have 4WABS (your truck shows 4x4 which most came with 4WABS just want to make sure)? In 2001 all rangers came standard with it.

If both have 4WABS, the hydraulic pump shows the same but the control module changed in 2001.

What is the issue you are having by the way?

I'm fairly certain I have 4wabs. A vin decoder claims I do, and I have all three sensors, albeit the rear diff sensor is also used for the VSS.

My issue is, when I start rolling at 10-20 mph the antilock brake light comes on and doesn't turn off until the key is turned off. Of course during this time, the ABS is disabled. I've replaced the rear diff sensor but that made no difference. I've swapped out the G switch with another module but it again made no difference. I've checked every fuse and relay, as well as the front sensors but nothing I do makes any changes. No codes are present.
No check engine light, no red 'brake' light. My brake fluid is topped up, as well.

You are checking codes when ABS light is on? If that light is ON a code is set.

You are specifically reading codes from the ABS module in Forscan?

That is correct. No codes are present, unfortunately, though; as far as the program tells me. I have the latest version for windows.

As I don't have 4WABS, I can say if you can do this or not.

Sends its speed dependent, see if you see individual wheel speeds: front left, front right, rear. Should be in the 4wabs module.

If you can, drive it and see if you are registering speed on all three sensors.

Alright, I'll give that a try after the roads clear up a bit. Even in my neighborhood they're all iced up.
