How do I wire off-road lights into fog light switch?

I remember that John and Swoop had figured out how to use the fog light switch to wire in the off-road lights, but I can't find it in my searching. I know it was done on GE, but if somebody(maybe John or swoop) happens to still have the wiring diagram that i could really use it. Thanks

Everything you need should be in this thread form ORR.

They are changing servers so the link may die but its a sticky in the general electrical section

It's not very widly known, but the guy that pays the bills for RPS also pays them for ORR.. still two very differant sites though, don't get that confused.. lol

Jacob, the way we had Sean wire his was like this. Cut off the stock fog light plugs, find the hot wire (believe it had an orage stripe, the thread on ORR will say for sure) then use that wire as the triger wire for a relay. Then you just wire the relay up like normal. This way you won't have to worry about maxing out the stock switch/relay set up with big offroad lights.

I'll be getting my jusnes light bar in today, hopefully. local mail carrier sucks around here.

I plan on wiring my amber Hella 500s to the foglight switch and the clear ones to the high beams.

Easiest way is to tap the hot wire on a fog light as the trigger for a seperate relay
if you use a relay socket its way easier too.

well i spent yesterday morning working on it and it just wouldn't turn the lights on. i started going step by step with my test light figuring how everything worked and trying to find the problem. finally i figured out that it was the actual fog light switch causing the problem! power would not leave the switch when it switched it on. so now i am going to need to find a new one or see if john can fix it, as he installed the blue led in it for me way back when, and i managed to blow that during the day also.

for now i just have it wired up with the switch that they give you

The factory switch controls the ground side of the relay. You don't have power out like an aftermarket switch.

bob, so now i am confused. i tired using the wiring from the link, but the colors did not match up. i think that the wire/plug was from the defroster plug i originally got. i hooked the ground(black) and black/blue up to the wires from the current fog light switch and then hooked up the other two wires to the wire from the light relays and to the constant power.

Well, let me know when you figure it all out... I don't want to be frying switches.

Jacob, this will work to control the aux light relay directly from the foglamp switch. The dash illumination and the "ON" LED in the switch will work, too:
