Icon2 Adding aftermarket power door locks to Ranger, Need some help.

I'm tired of using the key in my Ranger. Call me lazy I guess but every car we have other than my ranger has a remote fob for doors/remote start.

I've wired many things in my truck so I don't forsee this being a huge issue however I have a question.

I just bought a Avital 2101L which is only $35 to get the control unit/two remotes. I already have two wire door actuators that I found from my days at working at Best Buy(10+ years ago) so total cost for this project is only $35 plus time.

Below is the user manual: Page 4 has wiring pinout. H1/2 Blue -200Ma second unlock output is what interests me.
http://www.directeddealers.com/manua...009-01_web.pdf

I have one question about a progressive feature meaning, when I push the unlock button, it unlocks the driver side door, and when I do a second push of the button it will unlock the passenger side door. Since it's mainly me in this thing, I would rather have that be the default rather than both unlock/lock at the same time.

I know most likely I will need a relay and I am probably making this much more difficult than what it needs to be, when it should actually be a lot easier.

IE: I have NO factory lock/power wiring. So I should be able to simply run 12v constant/switched to the control box Avita 2101. Then I will run the outputs to the door actuators which are simply 2 wires. I do not plan on having unlock/lock push switches in the truck, I will simply use the remote fob to keep it extremely simple...

Looking for some input on anyone that has done this. I really just want to know how to do the progressive unlock/unlock feature but unsure about how to set that up via a relay.

I do not want to go OEM, as that is going to be way more expensive because I need actuators (which I already have, not OEM), new door panels, new wiring connectors...etc. For $35 this is by far the most economical way of adding power locks to my truck. I already have all necessary wiring/relays/connectors to make it all work. Just unsure on specific wiring.

thanks,
-Nigel

Think I got the wiring figured out.

H1/9 violet UNLOCK 87 = B+ Hot at all times (fused)
H1/7 violet/blk LOCK 87 = B+ Hot at all times (fused)
Hq1/17 brown/blk UNLOCK 87a = GROUND
H1/6 wht/blk LOCK 87a = GROUND
H1/8 blue/blk UNLOCK 30 = DRIVER actuator UNLOCK wire
H1/5 grn/blk LOCK 30 = BOTH actuators LOCK wire(s)

Need separate relay for the PASSENGER UNLOCK (2nd unlock)
30 = PASSENGER actuator UNLOCK wire
87a = GROUND
87 and 86 = B+ Hot at all times (fused)
85 = 2101 H1/2 blue 2nd unlock wire.

I'll post an update once this is done. I am going to bench test everything tomorrow when I get done with work tonight. But hoping to have this installed by the weekend after I finish lifting the rear of the truck.

Can't beat electric locks for $35... so we'll see..lol

Here's how I wired mine with second pulse to unlock the passenger door.

Appreciate it! I ended up getting it working.. SO AWESOME! I have it on every other car from the factory so this is the first time doing it from scratch. But honestly for 35 for the avital 2101L and some time it was worth it. I already had two door actuators that for some reason I got maybe 10 years ago..lol Glad I could put them to use finally!

I didn't hook up the horn because I figured it would be annoying as hell to always have the truck honk when it unlocks/locks. I tied it into the parking lights so that flashes which is nice.
