Several Questions in One Post!

Brand new to the forum. I'm putting together a 1994 ranger, or atleast hope to.

First question (which most of these may have been answered)

My dash/htr control lights are not working. I do not have the manual, and the fleet online manual starts at 96. Can anyone guide me on this, I'd like to see my speed at night. I did check all the fuses but I'd like to be certain of what fuse powers this so that I can focus on that slot, that is unless someone knows directly how to aid this problem.

As stated in my profile, I have a turbo setup off an 85 Mustang, does anyone know whether or not I can just bolt this on and run? I have removed the exhaust manifold and actually bolted everything up, pretty much just making it all fit, but I'm hesitant to fire it up and go. I have conflicting opinions on this from all around, telling me I need the svo head along with it. Other say, bolt on and fly....

I do have the 8 sparkplug 4 cylinder... if that helps anything

Couple of not so important questions, anyone every tried putting mazda 626 wheels on a 2WD ranger? I'm sure I can answer this on my own, but If someone answers quickly yes or no, might save me some time. I know the bolt pattern is the same, just curious if the offset will work and not rub brakes.

One last question, anyone know first hand if my 94 5 speed tranny will bolt up to a v8? i've got new style 5.4 and v10s... that would suprise me if they bolted... as well as 86 351 and 89 302....

something like that would give the ranger some more danger.

Look forward to your replies. Thanks very much!

I'll suggest you visit Ranger Power Sports 2.3Turbo Tech and do a thorough search to answer your questions. I'm not sure how many of those guys, other than myself are on here.

For some not so informative but quick answeres to your questions:

The stock ranger ECU you will not like the forced induction of the turbo, and your truck will not run very well. The stock cast pistons inside the engine won't like the boost very well either, especially with a stock ECU controlling the fuel and spark. Its best to do an actual 2.3T motor swap. This way you have forged pistons.

Your stock dual plug head is a turd when it comes to air flow, and is not a suggested head to use. If you want a great flowing head, find a 95 and later dual plug, as that actually flows great, it flows comparably to the Turbo heads, but has the added benifits that the dual plug was designed for.
Or you could swap for a true turbo head.

Your tranny will not bolt up to anything other than the 2.3's. The mazda tranny has an intergrated bell housing.

If you need turbo parts for your truck, PM with what you might need, I have alot of extras lying around in my garage, I may be able to help you out. (For instance I have a few spare sets of forged pistons/rods for sale)

Very cool thanks for the reply, I will be holding off on the turbo install. I think i've got a line on a complete 2.3t swap with t5. Thats interesting about the head, on how 94 is a bad year for it. Is it worth my time swappin to a newer year? better gas performance? anything or is the difference pretty minimal?

Still no luck with the lighting though. I do appreciate your reply and any others who can help.

on the trans mission no it wont bolt up to any of those engines and if it did, you would blow up the trans in no time, it wasn't meant to handle the TQ those motors produce.

on the dash lights i'll see if i can find my manual and look at it today..

Yes you want to swap to a newer dual plug or swap to a turbo head, that is almost a must if you want to run higher boost.
