ok so my truck has been parked for the past 3 days because i just put on my bedliner and the bed need to stay clean and dry before i put it on...

so im all done and i go to start it tonight and it cranks and cranks, but doesnt start... so i jump that battery and were all good....

i have no idea why it died.... i didnt have any lights on, nothing... i had my cell phone charger pluged in which has a TINY led that might use a 1/16th of a watt and my radar detector was plugged in for the first night but thats no differnt then any other day...

my only idea of what it could be is I took off my airintake to try and map out my route for me water temp gauge and maybe when i reconected one of the plugs, it sent a serge of electricty that just burned up the battery...

but the battery is basicly dead now because it was on red when i jumped it, then i drove around for about 10 miles jsut to let the engine run and let the alterntor charge up the battery and its still on red...

 

thats wierd. ill tell you what, go and buy a yellow top and ill trade you for mine. its still green. haha.

 

lol i dont have money anymore... ive spent about 500$ on my truck in the past month and a half

 

ahh, i used to work at a shop called "etna battery and automotive" and i was the battery tech and i cant remember the way to find out if you have a drain.....its like stick a test light on the negative and the put the probe on the positive cable or something i cant remember, but if it stays lit, you have a drain somewhere....How old is the battery, most places have lifetime warrantees.....

what in gods name did you buy? but i feel you i just spent about a grand on the truck over the past 2 weeks.

 

Radar detectors actually draw quite a bit..
I left mine on for 3 days once and the battery was 100% poof dead.. no click no tick
no nothing.

I would suggest borrowing a battery charger and leaving it charge up fully overnight

I did that on my beater car after it discharged during a 3 week period of inactivity..
and I actually think its doing better now than before.

 

yea i got one of those roadside powersoarces which is how i jumped it... so i should just hook it up to my battery for the night?

 

Hell Im still on my factory battery. Only died on me once which was my fault for sitting in a parking lot with lights on blasting my system.

i put a battery charger on it overnight and it was green the next morning

lol it all kinda piled on... but its a good thing its summer cuz im making well more then i spend...

i was going to but i wanst able to park in the garage and its raining out which is bad...

 

how old is the battery? if it's the oe or 1st replacement it may be towards the end of its life and sitting 3 days could be enough to kill it.

take it somewhere and have it load tested. hopefully you'll last until the next pay check but I'll bet you its time for a new one. you can expect generally 4-5 years up where you are out of a battery as long as it's not stuck for long times in extreme cold or heat.

 

i dont think its been changed yet, so well see..
