Wiring to exit at vent???

Alright..I am going to mount a GPS using the pro clip, that mounts over the center upper vent. I want a clean install, so I was wondering if there is a way to get the wires to exit out of the corner of the vent? Anyone try anything like this before? If this won't work, I am looking for any other ideas to hide the wiring as much as possible!

Thanks guys!!!!

Yeah the center ones....You talking about drilling a small hole next to the vent opening? Basically on the bezel?

I would just go right through the vent...dont see anything wrong with that.
you are going to have to take your bezel off and pull the wire through and down but it will be clean.

i would put the wire through the vent (starting from the clip) go in about 3-4 inches and drill a SMALL hole in the bottom of the vent for the wire, then tape it front he bottom so no air leaks out.
then take the wire to where ever it needs to go...(power source im guessing)

I will prolly go with the Tomtom Go700 (About $900, http://www.tomtom.com/products/produ...=77&Language=4). One main reason, is that you can get a hardwire package with it, that will automatically mute the front speakers for the audio voice directions. Seems like a slick setup. You can get other ones MUCH cheaper though...

This is the closest picture I have. The bezel and radio are out. If you look at the upper part of the cavity, you will see a gray area with white numbers on it. A duct fits in front of there and it channels airflow to the center HVAC registers. It is made of thin plastic and it would be very easy to make a small hole to route wires through it. Sorry it's not in my picture but it will be obvious once your bezel is removed.

I have mine out there but I didn't go "through" the vent. The gap between the vent and the windsheild is very easy to tuck wires into it and they stay there pretty well. You run them over to the edge, down behind the trim, and loop them under the dash.

My main GPS antenna is mounted on the roof under a "radome" with a through-hole mount (in other words, I drilled the roof). However, I have two "spare" GPS antennas on the dash at the base of the windsheild (one for 3 volt, and one for 5 volt systems -- the 5 volt one has a lot more gain) so I have alternates for any GPS. Two different connector styles also.

So, you may be able to do something nice without even going through the vent.
