Another Brake question

I have noticed that I have a slight leak between the master cylinder and the booster, not gushing or anything, just enough to see on the bottom of the booster. Is there a gasket between the two that needs replacing; or, is this fluid leaking by the piston in the cylinder and the whole MC needs changing?

Thanks.
Ronnie

Now I will say this before I reply....I dont have much experiece with the ranger in the braking department......

But....

I have done master cyl and booster swaps on my chevy, my parents escort, my old toyota, and countless different chevy's.......and none of them have a gasket between the cyl and booster. What wears out are the o-rings around the piston, causing a slow leak and a mushy pedal. There may be a rubber spacer thing, but no actual seal. You problem might also be caused by a bad fitting, you aughtta check all those out as well, so you can X those off the list of things to check.

If its leaking out between the master cylinder and the power booster I would suspect the master cylinder is leaking.

I vote it's the O-ring on the master, myself.

If it's the O-ring in the MC, is there a simple rebuild to replace it, or is it better to just scrap the whole thing and buy a new one?

You might need to replace both. If i remember correctly, cant the master cylinder leak into the booster and cause the booster to fail?
