Remote Keyless Entry

I am looking into doing a complete OEM swap, so that would give me power locks, windows and mirrors. But it isn't that simple, you have to rip apart the dash and replace the dash harness and engine harness.
I am wanting to do this because it retains OEM quality but if you are just looking for a keyless entry there are some cheap kits out there.

Thinking about going with this.
POWER WINDOW + POWER LOCKS + REMOTE START W/KEYLESS - eBay (item 310196430570 end time Apr-23-10 22:00:48 PDT)

I would stay away from after market power window kits because the motors will not be as good as OEM and they will most likely be slow and could possibly burn out.
Also the kit does say universal but I doubt it would be that easy. I wouldn't do it because theres a pretty good chance it won't work without major modification.

I just took my truck in to get that done. i had a two way alarm with remote start and keyless entry installed they gave me a great deal and did it all for $450 including installing the acuators in the doors. i just took it into the place and told them that i need the acuators installed also i think that part ran me $120 parts adn labor. defentally worth it IMO

I put the a1 electric power windows in my truck 3 years ago, and they're still going strong.
To answer your original question, I bought an aftermarket RKE kit on ebay. Had to put the solenoids in the door frame, run the wires back to the module (which I mounted under the dash), and installed 2 relays (think they came with the kit). Overall it wasn't that bad, but I did it at the same time as my window install and had everything torn out.
Also... I hate my aftermarket lock kit. The solenoids bolt onto the lock rods in the door by this small brass block with 3 screws, and the thing is held in by the tension on the screws. It does NOT stay put... the screws back out. I even put red locktite on it and my driver side door still came undone... i've given up on it and only use the power lock for the passenger side door.

I'm no-power nothin' and ordered my keyless entry kit off ebay like 2 years ago for like $30 shipped. LOL. TrePaul spoiled me with his, so I ordered the same thing he ordered. Just finally got it installed about a month ago(THANK YOU TREVOR!!!) and holy ***** I don't know why I waited so long to install it!! I don't quite remember the brand, but I believe it's Autoloc.
I didn't care and still don't care to have power windows...more things to go wrong and more crap to deal with IMO. I like my keyfob remote and crank windows just fine! lol.
