wiring up back up lights

wiring up back up lights

hey guys, i have some aux back up lights and they are wired up to a switch now, I want them to come on when i flip the switch or when i put it in reverse, I think I can use a relay to do it, but what needs to be connected to what on a relay to achieve this. thanks for help.

I would think wiring them to the reverse lights themselves should work. But I'm no electrician.

i believe they put out too many amps? for that.

If I remember right it has to be done using three relays like I have did in this diagram.

here is the wring diagram from kc. this is the way i have them wired up. only one relay not three

I was told to use three in case you ever use the backup lights and switch at the same time, that way you can never short out anything or over amp the switch.

But now that I think about it, and after looking at the diagram, I think I was given false information.
