when it starts "dinging" just push the seat belt release once and it will stop for the rest of the time your driving. but only push it when it starts.

and besides you should be wearing your seat belt.

The owners manual for my truck tells you how to disable the light on the cluster and the beeping. But seriously man wear the damn thing, it's not that uncomfortable.

^^^x2! My owners manual told me how to get rid of the dinger. I do alot of construction site/driving around the property and such....and that dang dinger was really ticking me off! lol. Guys...I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to drive on the road with a seat belt. I'll grab my manual and post the info up...including the disclaimer!

Yet another example why it would be nice to have it off. Maybe instead of criticizing you should figure out why I want it off then talk!!!!!

OK, heres how to do turn off the seatbelt reminder: (it seems like kind of strange procedure, I havent done it myself)

Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. DO NOT START
THE ENGINE.

2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off (Approximately 1
minute).
Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.

3. For the seating position being disabled, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt nine times, ending in the unbuckled state.
Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
After Step 3, the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.

4. Within approximately seven seconds of the light turning off, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt.

This will disable the Belt-Minder Feature for that seating position if it
is currently enabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash four times per second for three seconds.

This will also ENABLE the Belt-Minder feature for that seating position if it
is currently disabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash four times per second for three seconds, followed by three
seconds with the light off, then followed by the safety belt warning
light flashing four times per second for three seconds again.

well..crap......my typing sucks! it took me like 20mins to find my manual, find the page, and type the crap!

In my '01 manual, it's on page 93.

Deactivating/activating the belt minder feature

Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the deactivation/activation programming procedure.

The Belt Minder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:

-the parking brake is set
-the gearshift is in P (park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral position (manual tranmission)
-the ignition switch is in the OFF position
-all vehicle doors are closed
-the driver's safety belt in unbuckles
-the parklamps/headlamps arein the OFF position (If vehicle is equipped with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure)

! ! ! To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt Minder feature while driving the vehicle. ! ! !

1. Turn theifnition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE)

2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1-2 minutes)
-Steps 3.5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeted.

3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during Belt Minder warning activation.

4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.

5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled.

-After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turn on for three seconds.

6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.

-This will disable Belt Minder if it is currently enabled, or enable Belt Minder if it is current disabled.

7. Confirmation of disabling Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds.

8. Confirmation of enabling Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds, followed by three seconds with safety belt warning light off, then followed by flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds again.

9. After recieving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete
