found a nice schematic on factory fog lights

so a week or 2 ago i was looking up info on wiring up aftermarket foglights to a factory 93 ranger foglight switch..even tho my truck dont have factory foglights or the switch and the ford dealer couldnt even get 1 and i couldnt find any in the junkyard so i decided to hook the fogs up to the low beam wire and ground wire and after 1 night of use it caused my headlights to start flickering and then eventually killed the headlights....after thinking i burned up the wiring harness or headlight switch or something along those lines i decided to go to the junkyard again and get new headlight sockets multifunction switch and headlight switch just incase i needed it all so i started with the simple stuff i took out my headlights and inspected them and apparently the foglights gave too much current thru the lowbeam wire it burned the paint at the tip of the bulb (i think its paint) and also burned the resistors going from the bulb plug to the bulb itself so after getting new bulbs and replacing both headlight sockets (i broke the clips on them getting the old bulbs out) i havnt had an issue yet and its been about a week and i also found a nice wire schematic for the factory switch on ranger station which helped me wire up the fogs as if it came from the factory minus the factory lights themselves and the switch...i hope this helps somebody else that is trying to do the same and not having good luck with it

here is the website http://http://www.therangerstation.c...ght_rewire.htm

Ford Ranger Fog Light Re-Wire

That's the link. Yours didn't work. http:// was in it twice. Notice my use of periods. It is 2 buttons left of the shift key.

And. No posting up links to other forums. It's like advertisement and stuff. Read the rules. And good job posting up an article from The Ranger Station tech library. Which we all use. Since we are obsessed with Rangers.

The easiest way to keep your fog lights on w high beam and parking lights is to run one wire from fog light to parking light.
