Went wheeling yesterday afternoon/evening, had a blast. Well on the way back stuff started happening. I'll see if I can remember it all, and maybe someone can give me some ideas to speed things along when it gets warmer outside today.

parking lights off - turns off OHC
" on - turns on OHC
" on - left turn signal steadily dim lit
" on - headlights steadily dim lit
fog lights on - left turn signal steady bright
left turn signal on without parking lamps - ok, blinks correctly
press the brake while flashing and the left turn either holds constant or flashes faster/combination there of
*Worst problems*
*turn headlights on - motor sputters and dies
*with headlights on - starter turns motor but it wont start
*with headlights off - starts just fine

Thats all i remember at the moment. Any ideas?

I unplugged my OHC, cut the wires for the mirror signals, took fuse out for aftermarket windows. I'll disconnect the locks and that will be all wiring that I've added disconnected. I did do the 3" body lift a couple weeks ago so I'll check the grounds again.

 

Umm. Wow.

There is a big electrical plug on the firewall by your left foot. Check that both inside and under the hood. Look for loose, broken, or wet wires.

 

It was just not a good ending to the day. Hit my oil pan and first cat on a rock somewhere. I have an exhaust leak, possibly an oil leak, and my pinion seal is leaking now. And it's my DD that I'm taking to work tomorrow. I'm not in a good mood.

 

The electrical problems are gone for the time being. Wiggled everything imaginable but the only known loose connection was the ground on the driver fender next to the fuse box. Disconnecting it didnt recreate the problems though.

Hitting the front cat that goes to the driver exhaust manifold caused the pipe right before to get dented/bent. So the joint at the manifold isnt straight anymore so it wont seal at all.

The dented oil pan is ok for now I believe. We'll see if it caused a leak somewhere else within the next few days. Not sure on the severity of the pinion seal either. I've wiped everything off and will keep checking things every day to see how bad things are.

In the driver side fenderwell are the fuel lines that come up from the frame rail. The larger of the hard lines that connects to a rubber hose has become disconnected, I think it's a vent line for the tank or something. There isnt enough slack to put it back on so I'm going to replace the rubber line with a longer piece. Anyone know how bad it is to leave it unhooked for now? or had this problem before?
