I drive a 2003 2wd Ranger with 50,000 miles. When I apply the brakes at over 55 mph or apply them hard at lower speds the car vibrates. At first I thought it was the drums in the back but the steering wheel is where I am getting most of the vibration from which makes me think it is the discs up front. The brake pedal has no vibration and feels normal. I also am not pulling to one side or the other, I only have the vibration. Any ideas on what is wrong or needs to be replaced? Thanks

 

Your rotors could be warped.

 

that is most likely what it is

 

*Usually* it's not just warped rotors (which are all warped to some degree) but it's also the calipar not sliding back and forth on it's pins.

Take a dial indicator and put it against the front rotors. Spin them and see what the run out is. And when turning by hand see if it's harder to turn at one spot than another. If so either the rotor is very badly warped.. and/or the calipar is not sliding like it should.
