Well didn't seem to help so I replaced my belt tensioner pulley bummed again didn't fix it. Also took back the alternator to the parts store I work at and put a new one back on just in case well didn't help it I've got to where I've ran out of ideas and dont wanna pay labor fees to fix it when I can do it myself it's in a 2005 ranger 3.0????? Need some suggestions thanks guys

Is the tensioner itself okay? If it's not putting the proper tension on the belt it will make noise.

Had same problem with wife's Taurus 3.0L vulcan. Replaced the idler pulley, whole tensioner, and new Dayco belt all to no avail. Bought a Gatorback belt for $56 and it solved the problem. My gut feeling is that even though the water pump doesn't leak and car never overheats the waterpump is on the way out and I'm just masking the problem, but everything works O.K. for now.

Just got rid of a fan belt squeak. Turned out it was the AC compressor. Sounded like it was ready to explode.
