Changing the o2 sensor...

Would changing the o2 sensor make my truck run any smoother. my o2 sensor is bad in my truck but does it really make a difference in how it drives, or is just an emissions thing?

It doesn't effect the performance of the truck

How do you know it's bad?

Before i bought it i took the truck to my uncles shop and had him look it over to make sure that there's nothing wring with it, and he found that it had a bad o2 sensor. And my check engine light is on because of it.

O2's should be changed when you do a tune up on the engine at least the upstream ones. So every 100k.
