Charging system question
Today I replaced my battery. IIRC new batteries from big box stores arent fully charged, correct? Ive noticed that with the new battery in the engine still wants to turn over slowly. Ive had it running and I put a voltmeter on it, and it was charging at 14.6 volts, so Im assuming its not an alternator problem. Tonight Im leaving the battery on a charger for about 6 hours, and Im wondering what is better, I can switch between 10amps and 2 amps. Right now its on 10 amp and if I dont get an answer quickly Im going to assume its safe there (going to do some more research on the matter in the meantime)
Thanks

Check your cables and connections...To me you have a bad connection somewhere that is not allowing full power to get to your starter when you turn your key. There is a RARE chance that you new battery has a bad cell. If it is not a maintence free battery, do a load test on the battery, THEN check each cell with a Hydrometer to see if you have a bad/weak cell. So many people miss this last step of checking with a Hydrometer that alot of bad batteries get put back in vehicles andback on the shelf at stores.

DOH I hate it when Im STUPID!!!!!!!!
Very loose wire at the starter.
Now the question is, what is the shelf life on a battery? I bought a new one from Wallyworld a few days ago. Im thinking I should go get my old one tested, and if its still good either holding the Wallyworld battery, or seeing if they will take a 3 day old battery in as a return.
