Well all the projector headlights i see have the two round reflectors, i take it the big one is for the hi/low beam but what is the small one in the corner for?

no its not a turn signal, sorry i forgot to say they are for 98-00 rangers

 

the little one is the actual projector light, it puts out the high beams(im almost positive) because my friend has some on his stang and the regular light is low beam and when he hits the hi's the projector(little one) comes on and lights up the world lol, its really bright.

 

do you know how he wired them up? because i know that the stock lights have the hi/low on one bulb?

 

a true projector will focus the beam for both high and low
those pictures indicate the former main lamp is sealed off
maybe you can still put a standard bulb in there??

 

A true projector does NOT have to be both highs and lows. If a projector have both highs and lows, it's called a Bi-Xenon projector.

The small round thing in the corner is the projector. It is meant to be used as your main low beam. I guess some people might put, say, HIDs into that place, giving you a very good way to hook up HIDs to a truck. THe big round thing is for the high beam. You can put whatever bulb in there.

Now, our truck has the hi/low in one bulb, so one would need to buy a splitter, that splits the hi and low signals from each other, so that while say, the projector HIDs are on, the high beams can come on to light up what we need to see.

Um... now this brings forth the question on where do we put the turn signals? Well... since this is for the 97 (that generation) truck, you can use the normal turn signals and not worry about it. For us 01-05 trucks (if they made this same housing for us), we would have to route the turn signal into the corner housing. Meaning, we have to make the whole bigger for the corner housing, use 3194 bulbs instead of the puny 194 bulb. How what would we do with the 194 bulb? Whatever you want

 

well. I guess my Jag and Bimmer both have Bi-Xeon lights.....
they have tiny motors and the lamp focuses

 

And Mercedes. They're actually really simple. It's a little flap that they usually have (a heat shield i believe) that's put there so it won't glare. But when you pull the hi beams, that shield moves up, and voila, xenon for hi beams!

My roommate's S2000 has HIDs, but his high beams are still halogen. It's pretty pointless in his car, cuz the HIDs are the cats pajamas and the hi beams only lights up a little bit higher, but definitely not further.

the bigger circle is for your stock headlight bulb

the smaller one, comes with its own bulb, and is a 'fog' light
