Battery light

My battery light just fliped on when I was getting some food at taco bell and then when I started driving it shut off. When I parked the car it came back on. About an hour later I started the car and it ran like a champ. What could this problem be? should I go get a new battery to be safe?

Call around and find an auto parts store that will load test your battery and alternator while still installed. Most will do this for free.

With your symptoms, I would suspect the alternator.

Don't delay. This may allow your battery to drain to the point that it won't have enough power to crank the starter, leaving you stranded.

I stoped off at advanced auto and had them test the battery and the alternator and they were both good. So I am relly confused I guess it may be a wiring problem.

Did you by chance have all that stereo stuff cranked, the E-Fan running, AC / blower on, and maybe the headlights too?

Belt could be loose (stretched from old age)
and/or the tensioner could be weak (is there a serpentine belt on that 95?).

My serpentine belt is starting to look a little old that and my tensioner was wobbling a little bit when I cranked my truck up and looked at everything. I guess I will replace the serpentine belt and check the tensinor.

eitehr get the rental tool they have, or put a pipe over the wrench to get that little bit of extra leverage...the idler pulley should be the last one to get the belt because its easy to just slide the belt on....
