I need help from a Ford/Lincoln technician. Wiring diagram needed
I'm getting ready to put a rear view mirror in from a 2000 Lincoln Continental and I need a wiring diagram for it first.
The mirror has auto-dim, map lights, and a compass. I don't THINK it has a temperature readout. Just a compass. The compass itself should be self contained from what I've read on the net? Not needing a seperate sensor..
Can anyone get me the wiring diagram from their work?? I can Paypal someone a reasonable amount for helping me if necessary. Can anyone help me?
If I succeed at this, I think this could turn into one of those great mods that everyone wants to do. It'd pretty much replace the OHC mod. You can even get the mirrors with a Homelink button.
Here's some pics of the 7 pin connector and mirror.

Heres the breakdown
1-Door sense Power
2-Constant Power
3-Not Used (to drivers auto dim mirror)
4-Not Used (to passenger auto dim mirror)
5-Reverse Sense (to cancel auto dim on mirror)
6-Ground
7-Hot in key on and run
This is all it shows for the mirror

WOW! That was quick! THANKS MAN!
From what I understand, the reverse wire has to be grounded for the auto-dim function to work at all. If you want the dim to go away when shifting to reverse, then you hook it to your reverse sensor wire. I don't need it so I'll ground it. The other wires, I'll just have to do my best with.
THANKS AGAIN!

Sounds about right but let me double check
EDIT: When the DTR is in the reverse position,12 volts is supplied to pin 5 on the mirror, this power also splices off to the back up lights.
when the vehicle is in any gear except park, pin 5 is grounded through the back up light bulbs. so if you ground the wire, auto-dim will work.

Looks like you got it all dialed, I just finished installing a temp/compass mirror in my mom Escape, no need to hook up the reverse sensor wire unless you want the mirror to undim when you shift to reverse.
I don't have it hooked up on my temp/compass mirror or my 2010 f150 mirror either.
good luck with the install (its cake) and they work great!

So I guess I'm correct in thinking that if I ground pin 5, that the auto-dim will work in everything except reverse... Which is what I'm after..
The help I've received here IS AWESOME! I don't know of a whole lot of sites that offer this kind of help or friendliness. Thank you Ranger-forums and all of your members!
If and when I figure this out, I'll post my results and possibly a how-to on this site.
