CV half shaft replacement

Last week I replaced the passenger side hub assembly and when I was down there I noticed my half shaft had oil on both boots. I guess it's time to replace it.

I've looked it up online and it doesn't seem much more involved than the hubs, but I thought I'd ask too here just in case.

Does the axle slide off and back on once it's freed up or is there a clip or something holding it in.

What's a good brand? There are cheap Chinese ones from Autozone et al, a brand named Cardone that seems popular and then Motorcraft for five times as much as the Cardone. I was going to go with NAPA, but those are rebranded Cardone axles.

Any tips or tricks are appreciated.

I don'y *Think* there are clips, I can't quite remember from when I did mine, but it was super easy to do either way. Shouldn't give you any issues.

same as doing a hub basically just slip the axle out. Cardone should be a good bet, have them in my car and they hold up great. ones i replaced in my truck are reman motocraft but i got them free otherwise id have gone with cardone as well.
