Dakota question

Do you guys know what this is? Its making a sucking sound, which I'm pretty sure its not supposed too.

^^^yep...it's a recirc tube. which reminds me, I still have an open valve cover and intake on my truck. lol.

Thanks Stone! I'll have to pull it off, if its as gummed up as the IAC was it needs a good cleaning. This is why I love this site, I posted this on a Dakota forum 30 min ago and still have no responses, post it on a ranger site and get it within 5 minutes.

Just get a new PCV valve...instead of trying to clean the existing one.

I got a new one, only 3.99. Fixed the sucking problem. Ok next problem, when you shift it to reverse it raises the revs up to about 1000, which is fine. Then it drops them back down to like 500 once its in reverse and then goes up to 800 which is normal. Any clues why its dropping the revs so low?

Thats what I thought as well. I tried cleaning it yesterday, I guess its time for a new one.

Since you fixed the vacuum leak from the PCV valve, and cleaned the IAC, try resetting the PCM by disconnecting the negative battery cable with the headlights on. Same routine as Fords.......

Did that after I cleaned the IAC, I'll do it again once the new one gets here.
