I don't know about the high beams and low beams on at the same time, but the fog lights staying on with the high beams is easily acomplished on 03' and older trucks. Search for the fog mod and it will show you which tab to bend on which relay in your power relay box under the hood...

The fog part is easy and there's a how-to on GenEdge, and maybe here too that I wrote. I think it'll work for '04's.

You BETTER use upgraded wiring for this. The ground return line from the headlights is too small to sustain the current to both lights well.

for 01 to 03 all you have to do is bend a pin over on one of the relays or something like that, mine this way

i personally wouldnt do the hi/low at the same time. . .. get a good set of KC daylighters, running both the high and low at the same time should increase the temp beyond what the housing is made for . . fine for "flash to pass" but not alright for sustained use. but if you do do it then i recommend getting a better housing/wiring kit.

Generation-Edge has an EXCELLENT how-to on this:

http://www.generation-edge.com/forum...p?TOPIC_ID=987

I did the original fog-light mod, but it has been expanded to the '04 and later models which have different wiring.

Bob (SoundPer4mance) and Ken (440volt) over there have done an EXCELLENT job of editing, formatting, and organizing the how-to's on Generation-Edge. Some of mine are over there, but have been improved by their good work. Some of the ones I "pioneered" but didn't document they have made how-to's for -- and they even give me props on it -- thanks guys!

I don't get on Gen-Edge anymore, but if any of you talk to Ken over there, send him my regards and compliments on the fine work. Bob I have already told from time to time!

John, the simple mod no longer works on the 04+ due to wiring changes in the foglamp circuit.

i saw the 04 fog mod and wondered why they said 04 and up and not the other years.

so the high/low mod is too dangerous? i wouldnt use it except going offroad. i was sitting in my driveway one night and had my lows, fogs, and hellas on and then i hit the high beam backwards and saw wut happened. thought it was pretty cool. i also hate not being able to have my fogs on with my high beams as no other light on my truck illuminates the ground right there in front and the fogs have helped me a few times in that area.

its alright to run the high beams on for sustained periods of time right? i was looking at that diagram in gary's link and i know that my hella fogs go out the sides farther then my low beams. if i had the ground cover of the fogs, width of hellas, and distance of highs then i think id be set. ill just settle for the fog mod.

now, in 02 era trucks does the fog light mod cause the fogs to stay on and with no dinger when the ignition is off? if so, how do i get it so they shut off with the ignition or at least ding when the door is open.

That's a nice box, Gary. Little pricey, but good to know there's a properly made adaptor for that.

There is a separate fog light mod that allows the foglight to work independently of the headlights, and go off with the key. Some use it as a daytime running light type of setup. I wrote it for Stephen (RedDevil) and it's documented on http://www.rangeredge.com -- although their how-to section is being reconstructed.

It might be on Generation-Edge.com also. Not sure. It's similar to the way they did the '04 foglight mod (though I didn't look at the new part of that closely). You have to cut and reroute a wire under the battery junction box (aka: the fuse box in the engine compartment).

RE: 04+ foglamp mod on G-E - I'm sure that you wouldn't have done it that way, John. It is wired to a constant hot so you have to remember to turn it off at the foglamp switch every time you shut the truck off....

No, you're right, Bob -- I would NOT have done it that way. Oh well. Thanks for the info. I didn't take time to look at the details. Why don't you go straigten them out over there?

I didn't have access to 2004 wiring schematics when it was written a few months ago. The original author has since changed his truck to ignition-on power for the foglamps and I have suggested another method to use the headlight switch. Hopefully, we can get it updated.
