Directional signal flasher

Need a loud flasher for '99 Ranger. Can't hear it. Want one like on a bus or a tractor trailer.
thank you,

The flasher in these trucks is actually a relay.
Not much you can do to make it louder.

You could wire in a buzzer of some sort.
If you do that, I would recommend replacing the flasher relay with an electronic relay (used for LED bulbs to prevent hyper flash due to the resistance change)
Borg Warner part number "E27"

Then wire in a cheap 12v buzzer from radio shack to the output lead on the relay and mount the buzzer somewhere behind the dash so you can hear it.

Thank you for your reply. I like your idea. Is there an easy way to make it play through the radio? Seems like in the mid '60s, had a bad ground somewhere and the flasher was heard through the AM radio. Realize we now have much different electrical system. Thanks again,
david

There should be a plastic cover that snaps on and off of the under dash fuse/relay panel sort of behind and under your radio under the dash. This may give you slightly louder blinker click. Most aftermarket flash relays are quieter than stock...

Sorry to say it but you may be better off just paying closer attention to your multi-function switch and dash blinker lights if you're hard of hearing.

99 Ranger. Can't hear blinker relay above 25 mph.

I guess I just didn't understand the wiring diagram. Removed plastic cover and metal plate below steering wheel. Tapped blue wire and then white wire with red stripe as part of the flasher plug , because test light flashed when it was inserted into each of those wires. However discovered that both ( I did one at a time) were hot. Beep had constant tone, indicating wire was hot, and an intermittent tone when flasher worked… Discouraged, I put it all back together. I could try to find blinker wire at the bulb and run separate wire back into the the cab to buzzer. That's for another day.

Anyone have a better idea?
