door bell

I have a 94 2wd 2.3 and a 99 2wd 2.5

I would like to disable the dang doorbell or whatever ya call it on both of them. Used to be pretty simple back in the 70's

Not sure about the '94 but I don't think there's any way on the 99. I'm pretty sure it's part of the module behind the radio.

Now that you say that I think I remember just pulling the plug at the latch on my '97. The chime quite but I had no more dome light when I opened the door. I don't know if power door locks would still work or not if you have them.

How do ya get to it? Is it in where the key is in the column or down under the dash where the actual switch is?

Thanx
Ron

You can pull the module out from behind the radio and take it apart. You will see a black thing thats is about the size of a quarter just pop it off with a small screwdriver and put everything back together and no ding...

Its where the lock cylinder is on column. Pop off top and bottom plastic covers on column.

You can pull the module out from behind the radio and take it apart. You will see a black thing thats is about the size of a quarter. Fill it with silicone sealer. It will quiet it down to where you will barely hear it.
