[QUOTE=kiltro;1803033]That's why I keep one of these hidden under the... somewhere you don't need to know
Of course it's a non-pats key, so even if someone found it they wouldn't be able to steal my truck (just the stuff inside it)

You know I have a hidden key now, but I like your idea of the non pats key in there.

I was a couple miles outside of Parker AZ. in early August a couple of years ago. Got out to check a tire, left the engine running widows up and air on as I was closing the door I thought this isn't a good idea. As soon as the door closed my dog jumped up on the arm rest and locked the door.
Fortunately I had lots of water in a cooler in the bed but I must have looked like an idiot trying to get my dog to jump on the arm rest again. Don't know if it was luck that no one drove by for two hours to see me, finally a AZ state trooper drove up and helped me open it up. Wanted to kill that dog but was just happy to finally get out of the 120 deg. heat.

Well I spoke with the dealer, took it in and they said that this option was not available on my truck... I thought it came on all truck not just as an option.

As a followup I did have the external keypad installed by the Ford Dealer, and all works well. I can now open the door if the keys are in the truck and even if the motor is running for that matter. Still wish I could get then to lock when the truck goes into gear...

He quoted me $130, sent me a postcard with a 10% off so it was $126 and change... He installed a 7L2Z-14A626-BA which I thought worked on 04 and up Rangers, but it works fine on my 03.
I could have found it cheaper but its a quick fix for my daughter who mainly drives this truck.
