changing the gauges in a 04

I was thinking about changing the gauges in my 04 and I was just wondering if the mileage is stored in the cluster or does the computer just update the miles in the new cluster.
or does anybody know of a company that makes overlays for 04+ rangers.

The 2004+ cluster has its own microprocessor that stores the odometer in non-volatile memory. The PCM does not record miles.

Is there a way to adjust miles on an 2004+ or can you just swap the odometer out.

What do you want to change out the gauges for anyways? They're already white and fairly nice.

No easy way to do it at the consumer level. Even the dealer tools cannot change the odometer display (for obvious reasons!!!). I believe that Ford, GM and other manufacturers have a procedure for sending clusters to a speedometer service center for digital odometer adjustment when necessary.

The above doesn't mean that there is no way to do it though. Google "digital odometer adjustment" to see a variety of aftermarket tools for odometer adjustment. I have a mental image of a guy with one of these programmers "rejuvenating" a long row of rental cars......

Yeah, when we get a replacement instrument panel at work we have to call Dodge & give them the mileage and they send it to us programmed.

Well you may not have the white faced gauges, but I do believe the FX4 Lvl 2 comes with the silver around the gauges, which looks pretty good to me.

thanks Bob, I guess I will have to do some research.

I do have the silver around my gauges, I just want something different. I think the silver and white would look good.
