Autopage alarm and trunk pop for horn solenoid

Now I've almost finished installing horns on my buddy's PSD and I thought about doing something extra for him... Something he's not expecting... Hook up his solenoid to his trunk button on his remote.

Now I grabbed a similar manual, and it says it's a gray wire on the AutoPage RS-662 that's a 200ma wire. Now if I hook up a relay to it to trigger it, will that work and not harm the solenoid for the brief moment that the alarm sends power to that wire?

Thanks!

I don't see why not, mine is relayed off of the stock horn positive wire. I double click the lock button on the remote and it opens the solenoid for a quick second but doesn't give full power to the horns since its real fast and my solenoid is a little far away from the horns. As long as the solenoid is close to the horns it should give it a full blast, if not then you will probably just get a funny little squeakish type noise like I do.

No he doesn't know what the wire is for the alarm, its a truck I think a f-250 PSD that he's just using the trunk pop button on the remote to trigger the horns.

I've never wired a relay that way..

30 - 12v +

85 - Ground

87 - to item to be used

86 - switch for the coil.

Yeah?

I have a feeling it's gonna be the same as what Korey is talkin about for the button... I don't think it's close enough to blow them both right away.. Maybe the 1600 horn, but not the 34..

Here's the setup..

Horn button and Compressor switch:

Solenoid (right above the back of the transfer case):

Horns (Grover 1600 and Grover 34" All 1/2in OD Air line)

87 is the input which you want to pop the trunk solenoid so you wanna give it 12V

30 is the output of what you want to give power to, You want the 12V going to the trunk pop....so your trunk pop wire would go on this.

85 is 12V

86 would be the trunk pop output on the brain. Its going to show ground until activated then once you hit the pop button itll activate the relay

So I was going to open a new thread. Decided to do a search and realize I already did a thread on this... But still have some questions..

85 - fused 12v
87 - in same line with 85 (fused 12v constant)
86 - Gray (-) 200mA wire from brain
30 - Positive wire on the air valve for the horns

Is this right guys?

Is it going to stay open for as long as I have the button pressed? or does the 200mA indicate a number in seconds it will send power to the relay?

Thanks for the help guys. This was originally for my buddy with his PSD, but now since I have a 1/2in air valve, it's going to be for my truck too... Then once I get it down, on his truck!
