Are you comparing 01-03 springs for an Explorer with springs for a previous generation Ranger? There's no comparable spring for a Ranger on there that I can see.

I know in general Ranger's can use Explorer springs. I don't know why you couldn't buy these. You should probably call Superlift or whomever and ask them what they think. It could be that they just haven't described them very well.

those cheaper ones require bushings in the springs, that is normally around 50 bucks.

as far as i can tell the lift height and brand are different. Skyjacker is known for making nnice leaf springs tho.

the explorer springs need the bushings, but the bushings are only $33 a kit....that would be a total of $280 for the 1990-2000 explorer 4" springs w/ bushings or the Ranger 4" springs for $361 w/ bushings.....

Oh, I keep forgetting your truck is a previous gen. Better check the widths on those springs. My daughters 1998 4x2 has narrower springs than my 2002 4x2.

alright....i called Superlift.....they have a 4" leaf for both the explorer and the Ranger.....

they said the Explorer leaf was 52" long and had 4 leafs in it and had a bigger arch than the Ranger spring.....the Ranger spring was 51 7/8" long and had 6 leafs in it.....

now wouldn't the Explorer springs give me a little more lift because the Explorer is a axle over spring and the ranger is spring over axle? so the Explorer springs would be somewhere around 5" of lift

Not necessarily. 4" higher is 4" higher, lol. You're not relocating your axle.

you will get more lift out of a spring that is designed for a spring under if you use it as a spring over spring. it takes more of an arc to achive lift in a spring under. example look at the springs on a s10 zr2 they have a huge arc to them.
