HVAC is only blowing HOT air...
Hey you'll hope I can get some help...I got a 1997 4.0L and my HVAC is only blowing out HOT air, The AC doesn't work all that well even though I refilled the free-on or what ever that stuff it...Sense I bought the truck two years ago, the HVAC only blows out HOT air, it's winter now and even when its 25 degrees after the truck is warmed up it can't blow cold air. So I can't really control how "hot" or how "cold it gets. Any idea's on what is gone bad or what I might need to clean out or replace? Thanks!

did you take the actuator off the top of the heater core housing and see to the notch is broke? Mine was, stuck to heat, used that link and fixed it in a hour.It makes more sense once you get the actuator off. Once you get it off you can stick your finger in the hole to see how you need to set the nail. THIS is sounding dirty. I had to keep making new angle holes for the nail to get it to sit correct in the hole.

I also had this problem...did some searching around and found this.
At this point I can re-install the blend door actuator, turn the temp control to cold, start up the truck and have cold air blow out, turn it to hot and have hot air blow out, but then when i try to turn it back to cold it will stay hot. I've repeated this several times with the same result.
I'm happy to at least have it to this point...at least the heater won't be stuck on anymore, but I'd like to go back to 100% climate controllability without having to constantly remove and re-insert the actuator. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
